Moreno Goals Sink Clash

Bolivian forward Jaime Moreno scored twice and Salvadoran striker Raul Diaz Arce once as defending champion D.C. United defeated the San Jose Clash, 3-1, Thursday night in front of 12,214 at RFK Stadium.

Moreno’s goals, in the eighth and 87th minutes, helped United improve to 7-3. Diaz Arce tallied in the 31st minute.

The Clash (4-7) got on the board in the 77th minute, after United defender Jeff Agoos was called for a handball and Eric Wynalda scored on the resulting penalty kick.

Kansas City 3, Columbus 1--Matt McKeon scored two goals in the first half to lead the Wizards (5-4) past the Crew in front of 8,161 at Arrowhead Stadium.

McKeon’s goals in the 22nd and 27th minutes came of assists from Preki and Mark Chung, who scored the Wizards’ third goal in the 75th minute off a pass from Frank Klopas.

The Crew (6-4) got a headed goal from Todd Yeagley in the 85th minute.
