Man Crossing Street Hit by Car and Killed

A 75-year-old Costa Mesa man was hit by a car and killed Wednesday night as he crossed a street mid-block, police said.
Warren Schreck was walking south across 19th Street about 75 feet west of Pomona Avenue when he was struck by a car driven by an 18-year-old Costa Mesa man, according to Sgt. George Yezbick.
Schreck died at the scene. The eastbound driver, who was not cited, was traveling about 35 mph, Yezbick said. The incident was under investigation on Thursday.
