Clippers Are Close to Deal to Extend Fitch’s Contract
- Share via
The Clippers are close to reaching agreement on a contract extension for Coach Bill Fitch, who guided the team to its first playoff berth in four seasons, a source familiar with the negotiations said.
Hired in 1994, Fitch is entering the last year of his contract. It is believed that the extension will be for two years through the 1999-2000 season, giving him the longest tenure in franchise history if he fulfills the contract.
Fitch, who was at his off-season residence in suburban Houston, was unavailable for comment.
