Summit Intended to Boost Business

About 100 people are expected to attend the city’s first business summit today.
“We’re trying to get a better understanding of what the business community needs from the city,” said summit coordinator Jim Basham, head of the city’s economic development program.
Stanton is trying to compete with larger cities by simplifying permitting procedures and allowing greater flexibility for advertising and promotional activities, Basham said. “It’s always an uphill battle for a smaller city.”
There is no charge to attend the summit, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Civic Center, 7800 Katella Ave.
