Cabuhat Leads Magnolia
Joyce Cabuhat swept in girls’ singles to help top-seeded Magnolia advance to the second round of the Division II badminton playoffs.
Cabuhat, the section individual champion, won 11-2, 11-3, and 11-1, 11-2 to improve to 51-1 on the season for Magnolia (15-2), which won, 19-0 over San Dimas.
In boys’ singles, Anh Nguyen swept, 15-0, 15-0, and 15-0, 15-4.
Magnolia will play the winner of South El Monte-Azusa in the second round Thursday.
In Division I badminton playoffs:
Ocean View 14, Rowland Heights Rowland 5--The Ocean View boys’ singles and boys’ doubles teams swept their matches to help the fourth-seeded Seahawks (15-1) advance to the second round, where they will play Bolsa Grande.
