Ex-Official in Salinas Case Held in Spain

A former special prosecutor wanted for questioning about accusations that he planted evidence implicating a former president’s brother in a murder was detained in Madrid. The Mexican attorney general’s office confirmed that Pablo Chapa Bezanilla was being held in the Spanish capital. Chapa has been subpoenaed in Mexico to answer accusations that he planted a skull at the ranch of Raul Salinas de Gortari, brother of former President Carlos Salinas de Gortari, to incriminate him in the murder of a missing Mexican senator.
