Piranha update--For the fourth consecutive game, the Piranhas will start a different quarterback. Coach Mike Hohensee is going back to Ron Lopez, who started the season but was benched in favor of rookie Mark Grieb last week. Lopez came off the bench in a 47-27 loss to San Jose and threw two touchdown passes. Grieb was nine of 19 for 117 yards before leaving in the third quarter. Anaheim has been penalized more than any team in the Arena Football League after two weeks--27 penalties for 124 yards. The Piranhas shook up their roster by waiving defensive specialist Chauncy Hogan and lineman Tom Briggs and signing quarterback James Guidry and lineman Jim Spencer. They also suspended leading receiver Bryan Reeves and activated receiver/linebacker Derek Hill.

Rattler update--Arizona has been one of the AFL’s top teams over the past four years but has struggled this year. It lost to Tampa Bay, 42-30, in the opener and edged Orlando, 32-31, last week. Quarterback Sherdick Bonner, who played at Azusa High, was second in the AFL with 3,690 yards passing last year and a completion percentage of 61.9.
