5-Ring Circus Coming to Town

With acrobats, clowns and 20 elephants in tow, the circus will soon pitch its tent in Moorpark.

The Carson & Barnes Five-Ring Circus will perform on Los Angeles Avenue May 27 and 28 as a fund-raiser for the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce.

The spectacle will begin on the morning of May 27 when the circus crew, with the help of their elephants, raises the big top near Los Angeles and Moorpark avenues.

The first show begins that day at 4:30 p.m., with a second performance scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are on sale at the chamber office, 225 W. Los Angeles Ave., and at branches of First Western Bank, the former Simi Valley Bank. Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children with advance tickets--prices increase $1 at the gate.

Also, two local businesses are holding a contest to pick 50 people to ride atop the elephants before and after each circus performance.
