Hmong Gather Near Vietnam Memorial

Hundreds of Hmong tribesmen gathered near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial for a ceremony recognizing their efforts in the CIA’s “secret war” in Laos in the 1960s and 1970s. The ceremony took place as many of the Hmong face the loss of welfare benefits as a result of last year’s reform bill. Rep. Bruce Vento (D-Minn.) is sponsoring a bill to ease citizenship requirements for the Hmong.
