Salvation Army Meal to Honor Good Deeds

Several Orange County volunteers and leaders this week will be honored at the Salvation Army’s Celebration of Service and Civic Awards Dinner.

Award recipients are individuals and organizations who have proven their dedication to the community through volunteer work, service, leadership and spiritual guidance.

A special commendation is going to Senior Pastor Kevin Beshore of Mariners South Coast Church, which has campuses in Irvine and Newport Beach.

Beshore, according to the Salvation Army, runs “one of the finest practical ministries in the county.” He is credited with encouraging his congregation to do outreach work, and he oversaw the successful merger between Mariner’s Church in Newport Beach and South Coast Community Church in Irvine.

The Girl Scout Council of Orange County will receive the Spirit of the Army Award, and Juanita Lopez of Anaheim will be honored with the Volunteer of the Year Award.

Entertainment will include performances by the Tustin Ranch Band and the Tustin Ranch Songster Brigade.
