Eltron Reports Quarterly Profit of $2.6 Million

Eltron International Inc. announced a first-quarter profit of $2.6 million, or 34 cents per share, which reversed a $700,000 loss during the same quarter of 1996.

Company revenue climbed to $23.2 million for the three months ended March 31, compared with $19 million in sales for the same period in the previous year.

During 1996’s first quarter, earnings were diluted by the write-off of $3.2 million in expenses related to acquisitions of Privilege S.A. and RJS Inc.

“We made great progress in our ongoing efforts to develop new markets and products for Eltron and are particularly gratified with our progress in the Far East,” said Donald K. Skinner, chairman and chief executive officer.

Eltron designs and manufactures thermal label and plastic card printers and related accessories used by the health care, retail, manufacturing, package delivery, financial services and security industries. The company, with corporate headquarters in Simi Valley, has additional facilities throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
