Man Running From Gang Is Killed
A 32-year-old San Fernando man walking with his teenage son was shot, then struck by a car Sunday evening as he tried to run away from a group of suspected gang members, police said.
The man, whose name was not available, was wounded by at least one bullet fired at the pair, then hit by the car as he fled, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Angie Prewett. The man died at the scene. His son was unhurt.
It was unknown late Sunday whether the man died from the bullet wound or from being struck by the car, Prewett said.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were assisting police with the investigation.
