Body of Transient Found Near Freeway
THOUSAND OAKS — A transient used a pay phone Sunday to dial 911 after he found the body of a friend on the side of the freeway in Thousand Oaks, officials said.
The body of 50-year-old Kenneth Ralph Arrowsmith, a transient, was found in a stand of trees alongside the Moorpark Freeway at Janss Road about 3:20 p.m., a coroner’s spokesman said. Authorities do not suspect foul play and say it is likely Arrowsmith died of natural causes.
An autopsy has been scheduled for today.
Arrowsmith is the second transient to die in as many days in the Ventura County outdoors.
On Saturday, the body of 43-year-old Danny Smith was found in the Santa Clara River near Oxnard.
