Article Unfair to Art Museum

The excellent long article on the visual arts on March 9 did not do justice to the Conejo Valley Art Museum.
The museum is not “in limbo due to financial problems.” The museum lost its 5,550 square feet of space at the Janss Mall because of the renovation. There is a difference between not having enough money to buy a building and not being able to pay the bills. The Conejo Valley Art Museum has been healthy for some time. The long disputed utility bill with the city was paid in full last year after several attempts by the board to have it reduced, to no avail.
The museum presents the most successful outdoor fine art and designer craft shows in the area, “ArtWalk,” and has for 10 years. Presently, a building fund is being established and the board is actively pursuing a space for a museum.
