Earnhardt’s Effort Can’t Be Overlooked

The next time a Tonya Harding cries over broken shoelaces or a Tiger Woods buries a club into the ground after a fluffed shot, I suggest watching a tape of Dale Earnhardt’s performance from Sunday’s Daytona 500 be mandatory. I cannot imagine the disappointment he must have felt when he hit the wall and virtually destroyed his car so near the end of yet another serious attempt to win this race. Not only did he get back in the race with his car taped together, he also kept his comments on the the incident to a minimum.
My list of sports heroes is small, but Arnold Palmer and Floyd Patterson at last have some company.
