Food Bank Plans 6th Hike Against Hunger

Ventura County hiking enthusiasts are lacing up their boots as they prepare for the sixth annual “Hike Against Hunger” Saturday and Sunday. to be held Feb. 22 and 23.
Sponsored by FOOD Share, Ventura County’s food bank, the fund-raising hike will cover 30 miles from Ventura to Santa Barbara, or a shorter, 10-mile hike from Ventura to Hobson County Park to help feed more than 31,000 needy men, women and children a month. Last year, the hike raised more than $13,000.
“This is FOOD Share’s unique event, which provides people of all ages an opportunity to join in the fight against hunger while trekking up our magnificent coast in the company of wonderful people,” said Jim Mangis, FOOD Share’s executive director.
Both hikes will start at San Buenaventura State Beach. The Santa Barbara hike will make stops at Hobson County Park, Carpinteria, Summerland and Montecito.
