King update--Goaltender Byron Dafoe started his first game since Feb. 1, and defenseman Jan Vopat’s goal midway in the third period gave the Kings a 4-4 tie with Toronto on Thursday at the Forum. The Kings are winless in their last four games and have won only twice since the All-Star break. They had a season-high 55 shots on goal against the Maple Leafs, and Eddie Olczyk’s third-period goal was the Kings’ fifth power-play score in their last six games.

Oiler update--The Oilers have been one of the league’s better teams behind leading scorer Doug Weight, who has 15 goals and 56 points. Edmonton lost at Calgary, 3-2, in overtime Thursday, but the Oilers’ 61 points are good for fourth in the Western Conference. Ryan Smyth has a team-high 27 goals, followed by Andrei Kovalenko’s 26. The Oilers are 11-13-3 on the road.
