Long Beach Wins on Titus’ Shot
Brandon Titus made a three-point basket as time expired to give Long Beach State a 68-67 Big West Conference victory over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Thursday night at San Luis Obispo.
“This is just an unbelievable feeling,†said Titus, who had 19 points. “The last time I had a chance to win a game with a three-pointer was in high school. I missed that one.â€
Guard Ben Larson made a 10-foot shot from the baseline to put Cal Poly, 11-13 overall and 4-7 in the Big West, ahead 67-65 with 6.1 seconds to play. Long Beach State (9-12, 5-6) used a timeout and a play was designed for James Cotton, but point guard Tommie Davis passed instead to an open Titus.
