Banquet Will Usher in Chinese Year of the Ox

The San Fernando Valley Chinese Cultural Assn. will ring in the Year of the Ox with a Chinese new year banquet Saturday.
Last Friday kicked off the Chinese lunar year of 4695, the Year of the Ox. According to Chinese tradition, the ox brings “prosperity in business as a result of logical thought, resolute practicality and honest endurance.”
To celebrate the Chinese new year, the cultural association plans a 10-course Chinese banquet Saturday at the Universal City Hilton, 555 Universal Terrace Parkway. The event, which is open to the public, will also feature karaoke, dancing, raffles and a door prize.
A social hour will begin at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and the program. Tickets are $35. For information call Alice Chou at (818) 887-7292.
