Pensions Given to Ex-Nazis Criticized

The German government came under pressure to justify its actions after it admitted paying convicted Nazi war criminals “supplementary pensions” while many of the victims had never received any compensation. Opposition parties called on the government to pass legislation to stop the practice. A Labor Ministry spokesman confirmed that billions of dollars were being paid each year to thousands of former Nazis who suffered a disability linked to World War II on top of their normal pensions.
