Three San Fernando Valley locations managed by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks plan million-dollar improvement projects later this year thanks to funding approved by voters.
Proposition A II passed in November, and the specific dollar amounts it provided were recently established by the city.
Hansen Dam Lake will receive $1.8 million, Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area $2.8 million and Mid-Valley Senior Center $1 million, pending the approval of the county Open Space District this spring.
Bike trails and a wildlife area are planned at Sepulveda, and swimming lake improvements are scheduled at Hansen Dam, according to Laura Yoshizumi, grants administrator for the recreation and parks department. Mid-Valley plans to expand its facilities in Van Nuys.
Specifics of all plans are to be finalized by March and funding will not officially be available until July 1.
