PIA Merchandising Services Inc.: The Irvine provider of product display and promotion monitoring services reported record net income of $3.8 million, or 63 cents a share, for 1996, up 9% from the $3.5 million, or 88 cents a share, reported a year ago. Revenue increased 14% to $119.9 million from 104.8 million. Net income rose 18% to $1.3 million, or 22 cents a share, from $1.1 million, or 28 cents a share, for the 1995 fourth quarter. Revenue advanced 27% to $33.2 million from $26.3 million.
