Mayor Picks Interim Director for Port of L.A.
Mayor Richard Riordan selected the former No. 2 man at the Port of Los Angeles to take over as interim director while the city conducts a search for a permanent replacement for Ezunial Burts, who left last month to take the reins of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
Larry Keller, who was hired as the port’s chief operating officer last spring, becomes the interim director Jan. 25. A former shipping executive, Keller also has been at the center of speculation over Burts’ permanent replacement.
Keller “has proven himself a valuable asset to the port and to the people of Los Angeles,” Riordan said in a statement.
