Pair Charged in L. A. Slumlord Case
Criminal charges have been filed against two Oxnard residents who own a three-story apartment house in Los Angeles, where inspectors with the city’s Slum Housing Task Force found potentially dangerous code violations.
According to City Atty. Jim Hahn, a complaint was filed in Los Angeles Municipal Court on Tuesday against Joon Y. Koh, 61, and Minja Koh, 54, of Oxnard.
They are charged with 21 fire, health, and building and safety code violations at their 30-unit building in the Mid-Wilshire District. Their arraignment is scheduled Feb. 27.
The charges are the result of a nearly three-month investigation last fall in which inspectors found missing smoke detectors and exit signs, leaking faucets, an open sewer line, cockroach infestation, damaged walls and fixtures, and an inoperable fire alarm system.
