City leaders will meet Tuesday to put together a list of their top 10 goals through the end of the decade.

Council members will review 131 suggestions made by members of the city’s various boards and commissions on what Thousand Oaks should look to accomplish in the next three years.

Among the suggestions were revitalizing Thousand Oaks Boulevard, forming a public safety commission, building more recreational facilities, solving an impasse over the upgrade of the Hill Canyon Wastewater Treatment Plant and identifying significant trees as city landmarks.

Council members will also review 124 suggestions by city employees on everything from economic development to City Council dialogue.

“Council frequently acts very unprofessional and the general public vents their concern to us workers in the field,” read one of the complaints, which were all anonymous.

Each council member submitted a list of five goals for 1997. Mayor Judy Lazar and Councilman Mike Markey both cited the improvement of Thousand Oaks Boulevard as a top priority. Councilman Andy Fox called for a community outreach program. Councilwoman Elois Zeanah called for an end to the sewer plant stalemate. And Councilwoman Linda Parks listed assistance to the Two Winds Ranch and opening trails to horseback riders as her top priority.
