FRIDAY: A Name to Remember
Here’s a tip for the Best Band You’ve Never Heard of This Week--that would be Swamp Boogie Queen playing at Nicholby’s in Ventura. Abigail Lenz would be the title character, and she can sing about as well as anyone.
Imagine Janis Joplin from the past or Marjorie Extract from the present for worthy comparisons. The band, out of L.A., has no tapes, no CDs--just the memorable Lenz belting out their blues-flavored rockers.
Also on the bill is Itchy McGuirk, out of San Luis Obispo. The show will cost six bucks. Nicholby’s is at 404 E. Main St. Call them at 653-2320 to find out more about this 10 p.m. show.
