Man Slain After Confrontation With Deputy
A man was shot to death Monday evening after a confrontation with a sheriff’s deputy at a West Hollywood car dealership, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
Employees at a car dealership called the Sheriff’s Department complaining about a suspicious man wandering about the business, said Sgt. Robert Stoneman.
When the deputy arrived at the scene, the man “refused to cooperate, became combative and started fighting with the deputy,†Stoneman said. The deputy used pepper spray, but was unable to subdue the man, authorities said.
“As the suspect continued fighting, the deputy then used his baton to strike the suspect, which had no effect on him,†Stoneman said.
“After the deputy used every means available in attempting to restrain the suspect, he subsequently fired one round from his duty weapon.â€
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene.
