* A linebacker and defensive end, Stromsborg was at the fore of a defense that allowed an average of 11 points a game during the regular season.

* This two-way starter is the team’s second-leading tackler and a two-time all-Valley Pac-8 Conference selection.

* Hourigan had 125 tackles and was one reason the Indians’ defense ranked fifth in the region among large Southern Section teams. He also played fullback in short-yardage situations.

* Daniels was the Spartans’ leading tackler and was the centerpiece of the area’s best City defense behind Grant and Taft.

* The standout among a talented group of linebackers, Morgan led the Toreadors in sacks--including three in season opener against Sylmar--and tackles for losses.

* A three-time selection to The Times’ team, Bailey intercepted seven passes to lead region’s City Section players. He rushed for 853 yards and caught 29 passes.

Cody Joyce / HART
* 6-2, 185 pounds, Sr.
* Back
* Fast and athletic, Joyce had two interceptions and was a sure tackler. On offense, he had 67 receptions for 1,067 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Kevin Carlsen / CANOGA PARK
* 6-1, 175 pounds, Sr.
* Back
* The speedy two-way starter intercepted four passes and returned one for a touchdown. As a wide receiver, he had a region-high 18 touchdown receptions.

Will Demps / HIGHLAND
* 6-1, 190 pounds, Sr.
* Back
* Demps led the region with eight interceptions and 183 return yards, including three touchdowns. Demps rushed for 305 yards and was Highland’s leading receiver.

* 6-4, 200 pounds, Sr.
* Quarterback
* Playing only his second season of organized football, Scott passed for 3,013 yards and 32 touchdowns in 11 games. He led the Indians to their first playoff berth in three years.

* Running back
* The region’s leading City Section rusher with 2,232 yards and 23 touchdowns, he was the Valley Pac-8 Conference’s most valuable player on offense.

* 6-4, 267 pounds, Sr.
* Line
* The Pacific League offensive lineman of the year steadied a line that helped Kenny Pritchett rush for a school-record 1,711 yards.

Mike Wambolt / HART
* 6-5, 275 pounds, Sr.
* Line
* Wambolt received first-team honors for the second year in a row. A three-year starter who has also played defensive line, Wambolt anchored one of the area’s top offensive units.

Ricky Bednarek / NOTRE DAME
* 6-0, 280 pounds, Sr.
* Line
* The Mission League lineman of the year, Bednarek was the spearhead of a Notre Dame running attack that averaged 288 yards a game.

Greg Hulett / EL CAMINO REAL
* 6-3, 250 pounds, Sr.
* Line
* Hulett was selected to the All-Northwest Valley Conference team. He helped open holes for junior tailback Quincy Wright and the Conquistadores reached the 4-A playoffs for the first time since 1993.

Vincent Sandoval / PALMDALE
* 6-4, 275 pounds, Sr.
* Line
* A three-year starter, Sandoval helped Palmdale go from an 0-10 team in 1994 to a league tri-champoin with a 9-3 record in 1996. Palmdale’s offense averaged 365 yards per game.

Glenn Adriatico / BURROUGHS
* 5-9, 155 pounds, Jr.
* Receiver
* A repeat first-team selection, Adriatico had 85 receptions, 1,362 yards and 16 touchdowns. In two years he has caught 147 passes for 2,275 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Aaron Lewis / KENNEDY
* 5-9, 155 pounds, Jr.
* Receiver
* Lewis finished with 65 receptions for 1,191 yards and 14 touchdowns and helped Kennedy advance to the second round of City Section 4-A playoffs.

Emmanuel Evans / BIRMINGHAM
* 6-3, 236 pounds, Jr.
* Kicker
* Evans averaged 42.8 yards a punt and kicked off for the Braves. He also gained 1,605 yards rushing in 237 carries and scored 13 touchdowns.
