Trophies were awarded to 23 floats entered in the 108th Tournament of Roses Parade. The theme was “Life’s Shining Moments.”
Sweepstakes Trophy: “The Field Trip,” California State PTA. Most beautiful entry with outstanding floral presentation and design.
Lathrop K. Leishman Trophy: “Shine On Harvest Moon,” city of St. Louis. Most beautiful float entered by a noncommercial sponsor.
President’s Trophy: “Underwater Fantasy,” Unocal. Floral excellence. Most effective overall floral presentation, use of flowers and design of floral arrangements.
Grand Marshal’s Trophy: “Discovering New Worlds,” American Honda Motor Co. Excellence in creative concept, design, dramatic impact and effectiveness.
Directors’ Trophy: “Water, The Gift of Life” Rain Bird Sprinkler Manufacturing. Exemplary craftsmanship in overall design, use of flowers, outstanding artistic merit in design and floral presentation.
Theme Trophy: “Sunday Morning,” Lutheran Laymen’s League. Excellence in presenting parade theme in design and flowers.
Judges Special Trophy: “Wish Upon a Star,” Eastman Kodak. Most spectacular showmanship and dramatic impact.
Queen’s Trophy: “150 Years of Lighting the Way,” Edison International. Most effective use and display of roses in concept, design and presentation.
Isabella Coleman Trophy: “Arrival at the Oasis,” Florists’ Transworld Delivery. Best presentation of color and color harmony through use of flowers.
Princesses’ Trophy: “Chasing Butterflies,” International House of Pancakes. Most beautiful float 35 feet or less in length.
Animation Trophy: “Let’s Do Lunch,” Dr Pepper USA. Best use of animation and motion.
Fantasy Trophy: “School’s Out,” Target Stores. Most outstanding display of fantasy and imagination.
Humor Trophy: “You Light Up My Life,” Arco. Most comical and amusing entry.
International Trophy: “Mabuhay,” the Philippines. Most beautiful entry from outside the continental United States.
National Trophy: “Entertaining Victory,” Ruby’s Restaurants. Best depiction of life in the United States.
Governor’s Trophy: “The Golden Age of Hollywood,” Mann Theatres. Best depiction of life in California.
Founders’ Trophy: “Catch of the Day,” Cal Poly Universities Pomona and San Luis Obispo. Most beautiful float built and decorated by volunteers from the sponsoring community or organization.
Mayor’s Trophy: “Saturday Night Bath,” city of Torrance. Most outstanding entry from a city (U.S. or international).
Tournament Special Trophy: “Dream Flight,” United Airlines. Exceptional merit in multiple classifications.
Volunteers’ Trophy: “A Honey of a Day,” city of South Pasadena. Best floral design of parade theme, 35 feet or less.
Extraordinaire Trophy: “Family Market,” Sunkist Growers. Most spectacular entry including floats that cannot retract to 55 feet in length.
Past Presidents’ Trophy: “We Deliver Moments,” U.S. Postal Service. Most creative design and use of both floral and non-floral materials.
Craftsman Award: “Splendor on the River of Kings,” Thailand. Outstanding showmanship and dramatic impact over 55 feet in length.
