Bills’ Center Kent Hull Retires

Buffalo center Kent Hull, who turns 36 next month, said he is retiring, ending an 11-year NFL career. The 6-foot-5, 284-pounder from Mississippi State missed only five games in his career and was named to the Pro Bowl three times. Of the eight remaining Bills who played in four consecutive Super Bowls from 1991-94, he is the first to retire.

Former Miami Dolphin coach Don Shula denied an NBC report that claimed he had been contacted by the New York Giants and Jets about their head coaching vacancies and that he is considering taking one of the jobs. “I’m at peace where I’m at now,†Shula told the New York Times. “I’m not actively pursuing any thought of getting back into coaching.â€

Alfred Williams, the Denver Broncos’ All-Pro defensive end, was impressed by the play of Jacksonville offensive tackle Tony Boselli against Buffalo’s Bruce Smith Saturday. “Boselli won that battle hands down,†Williams said. But he also said that whether he goes up against Boselli or the Jaguars’ right offensive tackle, Leon Searcy, next Saturday he expects to have a good game. “I’m going to have a great game, that’s just the way it is,†Williams said.
