College Aid Available for Foster Care Youth
Former foster children interested in a college education may be eligible to get a financial boost from the Training and Education for the Achievement of Children fund, better known as TEACH.
Established in 1994 for Ventura County, TEACH targets youths who are leaving or have already left county-run, out-of-home care or residential programs.
The program is designed for youngsters who are released from foster programs but who may not have the fiscal and emotional support of a traditional family.
Applicants who apply to the program by Feb. 14 are eligible for more than $3,000 in awards. Applications are available at county community colleges and from the Ventura Public Social Services Agency.
Donations to TEACH can be sent to the Ventura County Community Foundation, 1355 Del Norte Road, Camarillo, CA 93010.
