A 6-year-old boy whose body was found in the water at Lake Sherwood died as the result of an accidental drowning, a coroner’s office spokesman said Sunday.
Ventura County Sheriff’s Department search and rescue divers found the body of Luis Avalos near a dock in about 5 feet of water at 8:45 p.m. His father, Ray Avalos of Thousand Oaks, a groundskeeper at the lake, reported his son missing about 2:30 p.m., authorities said.
An autopsy performed Sunday morning showed that the boy had drowned and that his death was accidental, said Craig Stevens, senior deputy coroner.
