Pilot Reports ‘Flare’ Near TWA Crash Site

A Saudi Arabian Airlines pilot flying in the area where Trans World Airlines Flight 800 exploded reported seeing “a green flare” in the sky that authorities could not identify. The FBI said it was investigating the report, but a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration noted that a similar sighting near the Long Island town of East Hampton last month was thought to be a natural phenomenon. Many people reported seeing a streak of light in the sky about the time Flight 800 exploded.
