Deputy Premier Faces Sex Scandal

Belgium’s deputy prime minister, Elio di Rupo, faced a parliamentary committee to answer new allegations in an underage sex scandal that has already forced the resignation of one senior politician. The 11-member committee must decide whether the new evidence is sufficient to lift Di Rupo’s parliamentary immunity and send him for trial before the Supreme Court. On Monday, the high court rejected as baseless the initial allegations against Di Rupo from a young man who said he was under 16 when he had sex with the the deputy premier.
