SEASON AT A GLANCE: The team leader in kills (3.7 per game) and digs (six per game), Mendoza helped the top-seeded Spartans to the City Section 3-A Division championship. The outside hitter was selected East Valley League co-player of the year. During her three years on the varsity team, Sylmar was 47-2.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Mendoza had 31 kills and 43 digs in victories over Poly in the semifinals and Canoga Park in the 3-A final. “She has a variety of shots and keeps a lot of teams off-balance,” Sylmar Coach Bob Thomson said. “[She’s a] very deceptive hitter.”
