2 Killed, 6 Hurt in Freeway Crash
Two people were killed and six others were injured, one seriously, in a traffic crash Monday afternoon in Rancho Cucamonga that forced the closure of northbound Interstate 15 for five hours.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at 1:12 p.m. when a southbound vehicle apparently veered out of control south of the Foothill Boulevard junction, crossed the median and collided with three northbound vehicles.
The driver of a northbound vehicle was one of those killed, said CHP Officer Mike Marks. Witnesses said the southbound vehicle catapulted into oncoming vehicles and struck the northbound vehicles virtually at full speed.
The identities of the dead and injured were not released pending notification of relatives.
