UC Irvine Women Lose in Exhibition

UC Irvine had a chance to tie Jiangsu (China) in the final seconds, but Irvine’s Chelsea Mackey missed inside at the buzzer and the Anteaters lost, 73-71, in an exhibition women’s basketball game Thursday at the Bren Center.

Leticia Oseguera had 18 points, Mackey added 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds and Megan Stafford had eight assists for the Anteaters.

In Big West Conference women’s volleyball:

Long Beach State 3, UC Irvine 0--The 49ers (27-1, 14-1 in conference) won, 15-4, 15-7, 15-5, to clinch at least a tie for the conference title. UC Irvine is 6-22, 3-12.

Pacific 3, Cal State Fullerton 0--Pacific (20-5, 13-2) won 20 matches for the 19th consecutive season by winning, 15-8, 15-9, 15-1. Fullerton is 16-12, 6-9.
