Pacoima Teen Killed as 2 Groups Fight
An argument between two groups of young men escalated into gunfire early Sunday morning, leaving a Pacoima man dead, Los Angeles police said.
Alfredo Barrios, 18, died at Pacifica Hospital in Sun Valley of a gunshot wound suffered during an altercation at Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Oxnard Street, said Det. Oscar Carballo of the North Hollywood Division.
Four men, including Barrios, had stopped at a public phone about 1:20 a.m. Sunday when a second group of four or five men, believed to be in their late teens and early 20s, drove up to the location.
After an exchange of words, there was a fight involving five of the men, Carballo said. One pulled out a gun and fired.
Police arrested Jorge Lemus, 23, of Van Nuys on suspicion of murder.
