Simi Valley Leaves Channel Islands in Basement

David Krewson completed eight of 18 passes for 123 yards and one touchdown as Simi Valley High picked up its first Marmonte League victory by beating Channel Islands, 14-6, Saturday night at Channel Islands.
Channel Islands (1-7, 0-5 in league) was driving in the final minute, with Nick Ciari connecting on consecutive pass plays of 16 and 32 yards to move to the Simi Valley 32-yard line. Ciari’s desperation pass, however, fell incomplete as time expired.
Simi Valley (3-5, 1-4) scored first on an eight-yard pass from Krewson to Mike Boyd in the first quarter.
The Pioneers stretched their lead to 14-0 with 31 seconds left in the third quarter after Aaron Simmons intercepted a Ciari pass at the Channel Islands 41-yard line and returned it four yards to set up an eventual three-yard touchdown run by Krewson.
Channel Islands pulled to within 14-6 on a three-yard pass from Ciari to Ryan Brunsell midway through the third quarter. Craig Knight was stopped short on the two-point conversion run.
