Iraqi Kurd Factions Begin Peace Talks

Rival Iraqi Kurdish groups began U.S.-brokered peace talks in the Turkish capital, Ankara, aimed at ending more than two months of factional fighting. “We are here to help in consolidating the cease-fire and working to restabilize the situation in northern Iraq,†U.S. mediator Robert Pelletreau said. Pelletreau and British and Turkish diplomats will oversee talks between the Democratic Party of Kurdistan and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
