Ocean View Shuts Out Santa Ana
HUNTINGTON BEACH — Running back Jeremiah Armendariz scored two touchdowns and rushed for 113 yards to lead Ocean View to a 36-0 Golden West League victory over Santa Ana Friday at Huntington Beach High.
The Seahawks (2-5, 1-1) scored on their first possession, going 80 yards on 10 plays with Armendariz rushing for all but two of those yards. He scored on a two-yard run with 6:09 left in the first quarter.
After a Scott McMahan field goal, Ocean View scored again when Curtis Ambrose rushed 55 yards to the Santa Ana five-yard line, fumbled the ball and then recovered his fumble in the end zone. That gave the Seahawks a 16-0 halftime lead.
Ocean View limited the Saints (0-7, 0-2) to 79 yards total offense. Santa Ana was shut out for the fifth time this season.
Ocean View added three second-half touchdowns, including Armendariz’s second touchdown of the evening. He scored on a 69-yard pass play from quarterback Jeff Taylor on the last play of the third quarter.
Wide receiver Leland Washington capped the scoring on a 21-yard reverse.
