Ceradyne Inc.: The Costa Mesa technical ceramics company said net income for the third quarter increased 92%, to $1.1 million, or 14 cents a share, from $564,000, or 9 cents a share, a year ago. Sales rose 17%, to $7.4 million from $6.3 million. Net income for the first nine months was $2.8 million, or 35 cents a share, double the $1.4 million, or 21 cents a share, for the comparable period last year. Sales were up 19%, to $20.7 million from $17.4 million.
