Four-Star Films : ‘Twentieth Century’
Director Howard Hawks, writers Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur--an unbearable combination--take us aboard the Twentieth Century Limited back in 1934 for one of those terrific movie train rides. We share it here with a megalomaniacal Broadway producer (John Barrymore, pictured with Carole Lombard), his sexy Hollywood Galatea (Lombard) and assorted zanies, jerks, crackpots and cynics. First class, all the way. (Cinemax Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.).
