Big Ten: No. 2 Ohio State and No. 13 Michigan have to rally for victories. Michigan State has easy time in defeating Minnesota.

Pepe Pearson rushed for 152 yards, including a 64-yard touchdown run, as No. 2 Ohio State overcame its biggest deficit of the season to defeat Purdue, 42-14, on Saturday at West Lafayette, Ind.

Purdue (2-5 overall and 1-3 in the Big Ten) shocked Ohio State (6-0, 3-0) with two long touchdown pass plays in opening a 14-0 first-quarter lead.

The score was tied, 14-14, at halftime before the Buckeyes pulled away despite having starting quarterback Stanley Jackson ejected in the third quarter for kicking a Boilermaker player after being sacked.

Ohio State converted Purdue’s fumble of the second-half kickoff into the go-ahead touchdown. Joe Hagins returned the kickoff 18 yards before he was hit by Kevin Griffin. Mike Burden recovered for the Buckeyes at the Purdue 24 and, five plays later, Jackson dropped back to pass and scrambled up the middle for a nine-yard touchdown.

The Buckeyes then took command on scoring plays covering 63, 64 and 79 yards.

No. 13 Michigan 27, Indiana 20--Quarterback Scott Dreisbach threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Jermane Tuman late in the third quarter to help the Wolverines rally for a homecoming victory at Ann Arbor, Mich.

Michigan (5-1, 2-1) trailed, 17-7, in the second quarter as the Hoosiers (2-5, 0-4) took advantage of turnovers and mistakes.

Dreisbach completed 17 of 35 passes for 218 yards, but his two interceptions led to scores for the Hoosiers, who have lost 12 consecutive conference games.

Michigan State 27, Minnesota 9--Octavis Long turned a short catch into a 64-yard scoring play on the first drive of the second half, sprinting through the defense to spark the Spartans (4-3, 3-1) at Minneapolis.

Long’s third long touchdowns in three weeks gave the Spartans a 20-3 lead, more than enough against the sluggish Gophers (3-3, 0-3), who lost their 10th consecutive Big Ten game.
