Mailed Ballots
I used to live in Los Angeles. Six years ago, my husband and I sold our house in L.A. and moved to Oregon. I have registered to vote in my new county and have done so in every election. I have even been elected to the local school board.
After our move, I continued to get voter pamphlets and absentee ballot applications from California and Los Angeles. I called and wrote the elections departments. Today, six years later, I’m still on their rolls.
I don’t know whether there’s actually anything illegal being done, but the excess printing and mailing are certainly wasteful of the taxpayers’ money and open the possibilities to some serious abuses of the system. The fact that neither mail nor phoned corrections can stem this waste also seems like a serious problem.
