Wilkins Lost to the Spurs in Dispute
Dominique Wilkins, who signed with San Antonio on Oct. 4, cannot play for the Spurs for at least a week because his former team in the Greek League, Panathinaikos, still claims to have him under contract despite releasing him earlier this year. The dispute will be settled at an arbitration hearing in London next week.

Dallas Maverick vice president for operations Keith Grant, who has been with the team since its inception 16 years ago, resigned, citing “an element of burnout.†Co-owner Frank Zaccanelli will become interim vice president for operations while the team seeks a replacement. The Mavericks also announced the signing of Oliver Miller, a 6-foot-9 free-agent center who played last season with the Toronto Raptors. . . . The Philadelphia 76ers signed center-forward Mark Bradtke, a 6-9 three-time Australian Olympian. . . . The Orlando Magic, trying to fill a huge gap at center, are reportedly close to signing 15-year NBA veteran Danny Schayes. Felton Spencer, acquired in a trade with the Utah Jazz, is Orlando’s starting center. . . . First-round draft pick Ray Allen suffered bruised ribs while setting a pick during practice and will sit out the Milwaukee Bucks’ two weekend exhibition games. Allen will be reevaluated next week.
