Palmdale 40, Canyon 12--Jan Brown gained 113 yards in eight carries, including two first-half touchdowns, and Jason Anderson gained well over 100 yards in the second half and scored two touchdowns for Palmdale (4-1).

Brown opened the scoring with a 36-yard run up the middle, and scored later on a nine-yard run, but did not carry the ball in the second half.

Anderson scored late in the third quarter when he was able to get outside and race 64 yards, and he scored again from 14 yards out to put the game out of reach, 34-12. Anderson finished with 149 yards in 13 carries.

Monte McKeon gained 89 yards in 14 carries for Canyon (2-3), but it was the passing combination of Rick Thomas and Steve Lombardi that kept the Cowboys close in the first half.

Lombardi finished with eight receptions for 118 yards and one touchdown, while Thomas completed 14 of 27 pass attempts for 144 yards, including the 18-yard touchdown to Lombardi with 40 seconds left in the first half that pulled Canyon within two points, 14-12.
