Chaminade 56, Hoover 0--Steven Hoo was double-trouble for Hoover. Hoo, a two-way starter, scored two touchdowns, ran for two two-point conversions and blocked two punts to lead Chaminade (2-2-1).
Hoo, a running back and defensive back, ran for 70 yards and two touchdowns in 10 carries. He scored his first touchdown on a one-yard run two plays after he blocked Blake Appelgate’s punt. Hoo added a two-point conversion to give Chaminade a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
Hoo’s second blocked punt set up Ray Rodriguez’s one-yard scoring run to give Chaminade a 21-0 first-quarter lead.
Hoo also scored on a 33-yard run and added his second two-point conversion with two minutes left in the first half.
Rodriguez completed six of seven passes for 133 yards and a touchdown.
Chaminade’s defense held Hoover (1-4) to 137 yards.
