Nonprofit Groups Can Seek FEMA Grants

Nonprofit organizations that provide food and shelter programs can apply for grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency through Oct. 28.
Each year, the federal agency gives funding to the county, which, in turn, distributes it to not-for-profit groups.
A local board that includes representatives from the American Red Cross Orange County chapter, the Salvation Army and the United Way of Orange County reviews applications and determines how the money will be disbursed.
