Tribute to Sister Mary Andrews
We have lost one of the truly liberated 20th century women. Sister Mary Editha Andrews died in her sleep recently after 85 years of serving others.
She refused to take off the religious habit when it became fashionable to drop it.
She refused to quit teaching young and old to read when she could barely walk to the table herself.
She motivated preschoolers with her teddy-bear picnics. She motivated oldsters with her twinkling eye and Santa Claus costumes at Christmas time.
She chose to make us better and feel better.
God love you, Sister Teddy-bear. Enjoy your eternity. You earned it.
